innovation building to be built in Lund’s new Science Village

Veidekke has been commissioned by Wihlborgs Fastigheter to build Space (Kunskapen 1) in Lund, Sweden. Among the first in Lund’s new Science Village, the innovation building will house offices and laboratories, with occupancy estimated to start in September 2023. The contract value of the collaborative project, comprising two phases, is approximately SEK 168 million.

Veidekke’s assignment involves new construction of a total gross area of 7400 sq. meters, designed for office and research purposes. The Space project will be built in Scandinavian style, with a hybrid frame of wood combined with green concrete and green steel. To meet the strictest sustainability requirements for everything from materials to energy optimisation, the building will be certified in accordance with Miljöbyggnad Guld and NollCO2. Space will also be certified to the WELL standard, which stipulates that special attention be paid to employee well-being, in the form of air quality, acoustics, movement, nutrition, mental health, etc.
